Now that it’s January, it’s that time for everyone to look back on their year and reflect. With New Year’s resolutions being created and a brand-new year to look forward to, everyone’s hoping to become the best version of themselves. Unfortunately, statistics show that only 8% of people actually stick to their resolutions.
I have personally tried setting goals for myself that are too difficult. This caused me to not be able to stick to my plan. That’s why this year I’m trying something a little bit different. I’ve always had trouble sleeping, and for me, and probably a lot of other people, lack of sleep is the root of many other problems.
So, for my New Year’s resolution I have decided to make a list of things I can do to help me sleep better which I know will end up improving my year overall.
3 ways I plan on improving my sleeping pattern.
Don’t go on technology an hour before bed! Technology right before bed suppresses the release of the chemical melatonin, which helps induce sleep. So, technology right before bed makes it really hard for me to fall asleep!
Instead of technology, read before bed. Reading before you go to sleep relaxes muscles and in general, just makes you feel calmer. This works for me really well, and I’m able to fall asleep right away when I read.
Don’t wait until the last minute to do homework. I know for me personally the reason I stay up so late is because I wait until 10 pm to start my homework. So, for all the high schoolers out there, don’t procrastinate!! You’ll also be able to sleep better if you’re not super stressed out!
This is my list and I encourage you to make up your own to help you stick to your new year resolutions. I hope everyone is able to reflect on this past year, and start the decade off right by successfully sticking your your new year resolutions.
